We actively promote the continual professional development of our GP's through events held every year.

There are two NES Associate Advisors in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. They are:

Chris Black (Chris.Black@aapct.scot.nhs.uk) and Grant McHattie (grant.mchattie2@aapct.scot.nhs.uk)

Both work with the Primary Care Management Team (PCMT) to support Continuing Professional Development locally.

With the temporary cessation of protected learning time, it is the intention to provide between eight and ten CPD events every year. This would provide in the region of 30 to 40 hours of CPD credits for use towards revalidation. Most of the events will be in the evening, with a pack of pre-reading provided and 1.5 to 2 hours of learning in various formats provided at the events.

The topics will be developed in conjunction with the PCMT and the LMC and will try to address both the needs of local GPs as well providing a vehicle for the PCMT to disseminate learning. As the programme is developed it will appear on these pages, with a direct link to the programmes for individual events, which will also allow places to be booked.

Peer review of Audit and Significant Events Analyses

GPs working in NHS Ayrshire and Arran can have their Audits and Significant Event Analyses peer reviewed free of charge under an arrangement that NHS Ayrshire and Arran has with NHS Education for Scotland. The audit or SEA should be sent to:

The accompanying email should advise that this is to be reviewed under the Ayrshire and Arran scheme.
