We are a 7 partner practice located on the eastern outskirts of Irvine in North Ayrshire. Originally located in Dreghorn, the practice moved into purpose built health centre premises to serve a growing housing community in the mid 1980s, and the partners went on to purchase the premises from the NHS in 2012. The practice now offers general medical services to nearly 9000 patients in the KA11 postcode area.
Having developed the building from its original state, extra surgeries have been added and taken up within the building as the practice has grown. This has meant we have not only great and easy access, but also generous accommodation for our staff, patients, GP partners, salaried GPs and trainees alike. Because of our “just out of town” location, we have no problems with parking around the health centre, and our access to major trunk routes both north and south is excellent.
We have a wealth of experience in the field of GP training, having had virtually continuous Registrar or ST placement for over 20 years. There are three training GPs in the practice; Dr Barbara Alexander, Dr Robert Joseph, and Dr Chris Black. Chris Black is also a joint secretary of the Ayrshire and Arran Local Medical Committee, so if you want to train at a practice around which much of the area GP business revolves, this is the place for you!
The practice is supported by a highly experienced administrative staff, is paper “light” with the full suite of GP technology available including EMIS, SCI Gateway, Docman and patient texting services to name a few. The practice is fully supported by Practice Nurses and a Health Care Assistant, and our Community Nurses and other NHS services are also resident in our health centre.
We’d be delighted for you to make contact with us via our Practice Manager whose contact details are here. Angela will put you in touch with one of the trainers with a view to an informal visit and the chance to meet us; you’ll be most welcome.
