Practice Nurse Vacancy (Full or Part Time)

Frew Terrace Surgery is looking to recruit a full/part time General Practice Nurse to join our friendly and hardworking team.

We are a well established training practice situated over 2 sites in the town of Irvine, North Ayrshire. Our patient population is just over 11,500 patients with a mixed demographic which will allow the successful candidate to experience a varied and diverse role. Our practice consists of 8 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, General Practice Nurse, 2 Pharmacists, 2 CTAC Nurses & 2 CTAC HCSW, Physiotherapist, Community Link Worker, Income Advisor, 4 GPST and an FY2, who are all supported by our experienced management and admin team.

The ideal candidate should be motivated, friendly and have good communication and IT skills. They should be reliable, enthusiastic and have strong interpersonal skills. We are looking for someone who will be an integral part of the practice team but will also have the ability to work on their own initiative with strong skills in clinical decision making.

Experience within general practice would be desirable but is not essential. Equally we are open to both experienced nurses and those at the early stages of their nursing careers as the successful candidate will be encouraged and supported with continuing and additional training from our experienced clinical team.

Applicants should have the ability to provide high quality nursing services to our patients as well as an interest in all aspects of chronic disease management. A special interest in diabetes or a willingness to learn more on this topic would be beneficial.

Responsibilities will include chronic disease monitoring, management and results handling; all aspects of women’s health including contraception, HRT and cervical screening; INR monitoring; wound management; injections; health screening and all other general nursing skills.

Working hours and salary will be determined on skills and experience of the successful candidate. We offer pro rata 5 weeks’ annual leave and 10 public holidays as well as an excellent NHS pension scheme.
