GP Locum opportunity available within a welcoming and well-established practice.
Townhead Surgery, Irvine are seeking a locum GP to cover 4-8 sessions a week for the purposes of shared parental leave from January 2027. The initial period of cover would be 4 months, but we would intend that this could extend into a longer term or permanent role for the successful candidate. We are a 10 partner training practice with approximately 12 200 patients, and operate from single site Health-Board owned premises centrally located within Ayrshire; an easy 30 minute commute from the Southside of Glasgow.
We have a dynamic and forward-thinking team complimented by two salaried GPs, 2 ANPs, Practice Nurse, 2 General Practice Pharmacists and an experienced and versatile Healthcare Assistant team. We work closely with our health board-employed pharmacy team, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, CTAC nurses, Community Link Worker and income advisor. We are well supported by a loyal and enthusiastic Administrative and Practice Management team.
Our ongoing focus is teamwork and to be supportive of one another. We believe that excellent quality of care for our patients stems from excellent quality of life for our staff and our priority is to achieve that balance. We strive to be inclusive and open, encourage input from all our team members and run regular Clinical Meetings for all clinicians which helps with CPD and appraisal. We are a well-established GP training practice with 3 trainers and an excellent record of success, as well as regularly hosting 3rd Year medical students from the University of Glasgow.
Starting dates, exact sessions and duties are flexible and open to discussion. We are able to offer competitive rates of £320 per session.
