Having recently completed my training in Ayrshire and Arran I was delighted to be offered a position in a GP Development post in the area.

The education and tutelage I received over the years at my training practice with an excellent trainer, Dr Aileen McGregor, was key in my decision to relocate.

My current development post facilitates my special interest in geriatrics and provides management experience in addition to allowing me to continue to work in a well-managed practice in Irvine.

The team there are incredibly friendly and I have excellent support from one of the geriatricians at Ayr hospital.  It is my intention to complete a diploma in geriatric medicine over the next 2 years and I have the full support of my colleagues at the health board and in the practice.

I have a young family who love living in the area.  The transport links, amenities and family friendly local attractions such as Culzean Castle, Kelburn Castle, Troon beach and Prestwick village mean we are never short of something to do. The county is a great place to bring up children and, if we feel the urge to return to Glasgow for a night out, shopping trip or to visit family, it is a very easy commutable distance by train or road.
