Full or Part Time GP Partner Vacancy

Closing Date: Wednesday 31 May 2024

A rare opportunity has arisen for a partnership position at a small family run practice of 4100 patients. This semi-rural practice covers 3 small villages of Skelmorlie , Wemyss Bay and Inverkip in the idyllic west coast of Scotland 30 miles away from beautiful islands such as Bute, Cumbrae and Arran. It is the only practice in the area and has the feel of an island practice while still being on the mainland and only 45 minutes commute from Glasgow. We have no nursing homes in the practice, no QOF and no CQC this being Scotland. We have a low number of house visits and purpose built surgery in the middle village of Wemyss Bay. There are ferry connections from Wemyss Bay to the islands and a train station to Glasgow.

We were a high scoring QOF practice when this was in place. We have a close knit team with 2 locum ANP’s , a Practice Nurse , 6 receptionists and a Practice Manager all of whom are very friendly and live locally. Phlebotomy services are provided by the health board in the practice, as is a physiotherapist and several mental health workers who all see patients.

The practice would suit someone who is looking to leave the hustle and bustle of a large city practice and return to the roots of general practice being part of a valued member of a small community, knowing your patients and being able to have continuity of care and be able to determine how you would want to practise medicine. The area is a holiday destination and many visitors come to stay at the local caravan sites from all over the UK.

The senior partner in the practice grew up in this area, whose father was the previous GP working here. He says: “I commute along the motorway from Glasgow where I stay. It is a fine practice that I have had the pleasure to work in and am sure that you will think the same. I look forward to meeting and working with you in the future.”
